The diamond encrusted wedding band given to Marilyn Monroe by Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio is set to go under the hammer mid December.
Monroe received the ring on January 14th 1954, the day the two tied to knot. The bijou platinum ring holds 35 baguette cut diamonds, one of which is now missing. The iconic piece of jewellery is estimated to reach between $US300,000 and $US500,000.
According to historians, DiMaggio planned to ask Monroe to remarry him following their initial divorce, however before he had the chance Monroe died in 1962.
In the two decades following the star's death, DiMaggio had roses sent to Monroe's crypt three times a week.
